It is with great pleasure that we announce the winners of the Kenya Innovate Social Innovation Challenge.
There was a tie for the top prize and both Alpha Rider (humanlevel.io) & The Notebook Project will be sending one participant on a two week adventure through Nairobi!
The Realm team won the $500 software prize and gets to work further on their prototype.
Thank you to everyone who participated! You made this a great experience - we look forward to getting this working group started!
None of this would have been possible without all the hard work of so many people and the reward will be the results of the trip.
Since May 6th, we have been gathering people that care about literacy. Ken_Ya Innovate provides an opportunity to learn about how to design an empathetic, innovative and socially sustainable solution to improving how kids learn. We believe that wanting to make the world a better place starts with a simple idea; the idea that we have just as much to gain as we have to give. That is a powerful message.
Come join in for the panels, activities and discussion on how to improve literacy but also to make an action plan for the future of social innovation.
The winning team will receive two tickets to Nairobi for a two week immersive experience testing their technical and social prototype in the field with the students, schools and tech community of Nairobi. There is a second $500 cash prize available to the team that comes up with the best software solution that is compatible with the CSLP’s Learning Toolkit software.
If you're interested in participating on June 11th, it's still open to do that! See the schedule for participants below.

Designing with empathy and emotional intelligence is something that cannot be taught but can only be experienced. Social Innovation Challenges seek to bring this experience to individuals from all backgrounds that want to make a difference in a real, integrated and meaningful way. By creating this design challenge, we are bringing together some of the most engaged influencers in the fields of innovation, design and social impact on June 11th for a day of learning and innovation. It's hands-on, it's open to all and it's a learning experience unlike any other.
